HANDMADE HARDWOOD YURTS

BUILT TO ORDER FROM ASH

IDEAL LOW IMPACT HOMES, STUDIO/MEDITATION SPACE,

SUMMER-HOUSES AND HOLIDAYS.

The Yurt has been used by the nomadic peoples of Asia for thousands of years.

Comprising a sturdy wooden frame, covered by canvas (and, more traditionally, thick, woollen felt) the versatile Yurt can be turned to many uses.

Its beautiful structure can be erected by one person in an hour, and needs no guy ropes or pegs to stand.

Folded down, it quickly becomes a small pile of components, which can be transported on the roof rack of a car, or stored in a loft or dry corner.

The wood I use is premium grade ash, which is both tough and durable enough to last a lifetime.

The fitted cover is made up of a separate wall, roof and roof wheel cover.  These are also made to order, from 12oz water and rot-resistant, fire-retardant white canvas.

If you want to add a touch of colour to your cover you can have a coloured roof wheel cover.  Please enquire if you are interested in one of these.

in a yurt you do so at your own risk.  This can

be considered as dangerous; however fire-

retardant canvas is available and is recommended.)

TESTIMONIALS

Clive Davies, Forestry Commission

The yurt has become an invaluable addition to the range of the Forestry Commission's display/exhibition equipment.  The yurt itself is an attractive object and its wooden construction fits perfectly with what the Forestry Commission is all about.  Added to its aesthetic appeal is its versatility - we are delighted with its usefulness.

Kathryn O'Loan, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

The yurt was used for a science show during the Edinburgh International Science Festival. We had three shows a day for seven days.  There were between 25 and 35 people per show!  In addition a large section of the yurt was used as a 'stage' or performance area for the actors/performers.  It was an interactive show, so there needed to be plenty of room for them top move around.  I was amazed at just how much space there was inside a yurt as I initially thought we would have to have much smaller audiences because of limited space.  Overall the yurt was a very successful venue.

PLACING AN ORDER

Please remember there can be a waiting list.  Check on delivery times as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Orders are taken on a 'first come first served' basis, confirmed with a 30% deposit.  We will send a receipt by return and confirm the estimated delivery time.  We can only hold a verbal booking for 7 days without a deposit.  The balance is payable on completion.  Yurts can be stored beyond this time for a small fee.  Completion dates are only approximate, due to many variables in running a small, crafts-based business.

Yurts are supplied with full instructions.  Every yurt is made to order, so please check any specific details with us before ordering.

Deposits are non-refundable and orders cannot be cancelled within 30 days of delivery.

TERMS OF TRADING

Down To Earth products are designed, developed and manufactured for use in the applications described in our literature.  Their use in any other application whatsoever, whether or not the end-use is made known to us is entirely at the risk of the buyer and no warranty as to the fitness for the purpose in respect of any other application is given or implied.

The canvas covers are made to order by another company.  They are generally treated with a mildew inhibitor, however local environmental conditions, combined with how the yurt is used and stored may reduce the effectiveness of this treatment.  Neither Down To Earth nor our cover maker can be held responsible for mildew growth.  Please be aware, that fabric dyes can rub off and can fade.

Our range of products is subject to continuous development and we reserve the right to change product specifications.

Should a product be found to be defective, please contact us within 28 days for immediate rectification.

We retain legal title to all goods supplied by us until payment has been received in full.

All prices are quoted £ Sterling and are subject to alteration without prior notice.  When your order has been confirmed, the price is fixed (excluding carriage/delivery charges.)

Orders are valid for 180 days, unless by prior arrangement.
